Do Not Be Anxious: Give Search Engine Optimisation Sufficient Time To Show Results
March 30, 2010 by toto
Search engine optimization is a process than can appear slow to show results. The concern for any search engine optimisation specialist is persuading the management of the company whose domain he is optimising not to worry – but it is very difficult to give a definite answer as to how long it will be before the impact is visible.
Generally the answer to the question of how long it will take for your enterprise’s domain to elevate its search engine positioning will depend on several factors. The age of the domain is one: even with no search optimization of any kind, a long established domain will naturally start to elevate its ranking. A badly optimised small domain can be ranked higher than a competitor’s larger and well optimised website purely because it has been present for a number of years and gained some trust.
When handling a wholly new domain, it will probably be difficult to gain the necessary trust for rankings for at least three months, but often more like six to nine months. This is not always as clear cut. If your enterprise’s domain has and continues to supply meaningful content, and if you are fortunate enough to gain quickly from reliable mentions from trustworthy sources, you could see the results sooner. It is more likely that the long term support needed to boost the keywords you are using to entice potential clients to the domain will need to be performed to raise the awareness of your enterprise’s domain with the search engines. It is competing with other websites over popular keywords that can make the greatest difference.
If your enterprise’s domain has been redesigned, it is again difficult to be definite. If the overall domain name has not been changed it will still have its existing trust with the search engines, but it may take time for the search engines to crawl the new structure of web pages. A recognisable company name should be able to gain a page one search engine positioning very quickly, but that is not really depending on search optimization to achieve that optimization concentrates on elevating the listing for keywords, and that will not include the company name. A large factor in not elevating the listing for a relaunched domain is neglecting to perform any optimisation. There will always be at least some drop in trade after a relaunch, even with search engine optimisation. The concern after a relaunch should be to maintain current placings for keywords that have been succeeding in encouraging visits to your enterprise’s domain.
The watch word is patience. It has been known for an enterprise to use the services of an optimization specialist for only six months with no visible effect and terminate the contract with the specialists only for the higher ranking to happen in the following month.
The easiest indicator of the success of search optimization is the improved search engine positioning, and a search engine optimisation specialist can show that is happening – but he cannot give a specific answer as to when it will happen. If the strategy is allowed time and given continued attention, the ranking should noticably better after six months.
